The Parent Company announced the hiring of Troy Datcher as its new CEO, becoming the first African-American to lead a publicly traded cannabis company in the United States.
Despite the rapid growth of the cannabis industry, racial inequality has been pointed out by various consumers, entrepreneurs and statistical studies where it has been shown that the Hispanic, Afro-descendant and Asian communities have less than 6% representation when it comes to leading and founding cannabis companies.
Due to the aforementioned, the announcement of “The Parent Company”, a public company that operates several brands of cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, distribution, delivery and more processes with the cannabis plant, has caused a great impact due to the hiring of Mr. Troy Datcher, who previously worked for “The Clorox Company” where he served as Vice President of Sales, and will now be the first African-American executive of a company of this magnitude in the United States.
“I’m truly honored to be at the forefront of shaping the future of the cannabis industry with The Parent Company,” said Datcher, who will begin his duties as director on September 8th and will join the board of directors alongside Jay Z, current CVO of the company.
